Verdun is a very beautiful city in the Meuse area, which is part of the region of  Lorraine in the East of France .

There are so many historical sites around Verdun : forts, memorials, underground citadels... 
It's very moving and interesting!

On 21th of February 1916, during World War One, a very large and deadly battle occured in Verdun. It is called "the Battle of Verdun". 
First, the Germans bombarded Verdun during a long time. Then, they attacked the French troops as they were thinking that the French troops were dead. In fact they had survived at the bombardement ! Finally the French troops resisted and the Battle of Verdun was won.
