This battle opposed the french and the german armies and it made more than 714 231 deads. The battle of Verdun, wich was an attack from the German army, is one of the most inhumans battle of all the story of the war.
In Verdun, you can find many monuments in remembrance of all the soldiers who died during this battle; Verdun has received the"Légion d'Honneur" and many over war and honnor medals.
Now, Verdun is still a very beautiful city, full of history and very lively; moreover, Verdun's Castle, according to the legend, is haunted by the "gueules cassées"....
