The article will count for 4 points, it has to be finished for next week. (Tuesday the 7th)

Hello everybody, 

This year, all of the 3rd forms of Gerson are going to Verdun. So first, let's tell a few informations about this place.

 

 HISTORY OF THE 20th CENTURY:
This city has been the site where an important battle took place, during the first world war (it's where the treaty has been written).
If you want to visit this city, you really should go to the "Fort de Douaumont", where all of the soldiers are burried.

Verdun's History

Verdun is a French community located in the department of Meuse in the Lorraine region in France. It was the scene of the Treaty of Verdun (843), who founded modern Europe.

The history of Verdun has its roots in the age of cut stone and Paleolithic: the human presence in the area dates from 300 000 to 400 000 years.
In Celtic times, this region of Gaul is occupied by the powerful people of Mediomatrici, the capital is Metz and in the north by Trévires with Verdun. The city is evangelized in the fourth century, the first bishop of the city. He built a small church, later replaced by 952, the Abbey of Saint-Vanne, on the site of the current citadel.

Verdun

This year, the 3^rd form are going to make a trip to Verdun for their school program : the 20^th century. Verdun is located in the region of “Lorraine”, in the east of France. In 1916, during world war one, a very long and deadly battle occurred in Verdun : “the battle of Verdun”. During the battle, 140 000 French soldiers and civil peoples died.

The pupils of the 3^rd form will discover everything on this event:

-where?

-when?

-who?

-how?

-which arms? (planes?, tanks?, guns?...)

 They will explore the hills, the trenches and the forts of Verdun. They will visit museums too.

I think it will be a very good and interesting travel.

Hi,today let's make some cookies!!!



Ingredients:

-1 cup of butter, softened                     -1 teaspoon of baking soda (bicarbonate de soude)
-1 cup of white sugar                           -2 teaspoons of hot water        
-1 cup of  brown sugar                         -1/2 teaspoon of salt
-2 eggs                                                  -2 cups of chocolate chips
-2 teaspoons of vanilla extract              -1 cup of chopped walnuts
-3 cups of flour

Directions

1. Preheat (préchauffer)the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
3. Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.
4. THEN ENJOY YOUR DELICIOUS COOKIES!!!!
